Gilles Hellemans & Marjolein Guldentops
Gilles Hellemans is a visual artist and performer based in Brussels. His multidisciplinary practice pivots between performance, installation, video, sound, drawing, painting, publication, and is mostly site-specific. Through embodied observations and narratives collected of architecture, public space, and furniture, he unravels the relationship between attraction, ownership, and alienation. Central to his work is “Always Stuff,” an intuitive methodology that serves as a means of cultivating a personalized sense of belonging and permission to perform amidst generic neoliberal structures.
Marjolein Guldentops is a visual artist and performer based in Brussels. Working across performance, sound, installation, and publication, she develops text-based projects that often emerge in response to specific sites and contexts. Her practice treats language as both material and structure, examining how words shape experiences of space, time, identity, and relation. By moving texts between voice, typography, movement, and matter, she creates situations where reading, listening, and physical presence intersect. Her work attends to the shifting nature of meaning and to language as a force that mediates and transforms lived experience.
