Gula Gula is a brand new holistic festival, formed as an experiment to rethink the standard festival framework. A melting pot for music, dance, performance & art encircled by community & driven by voluntary energy.

On Saturday afternoon, we step into an open-minded and curious festival day. The afternoon begins with workshops that invite you to let go and welcome in, before live performances, concerts and DJ sets gradually take over our sweet Ruiterijcomplex. As daylight fades, the festival transforms into a vibrant playground. A collective dance workshop opens the club space, and after you can discover a late-night drag performance: an opportunity for collective celebration and expression. From a sun-soaked afternoon to a restless night, Saturday invites you to embrace the unexpected.

On Sunday, we build a temporary utopia; a place where everyone belongs. Families, neighbours, music lovers and curious wanderers can come together in a celebration of diversity, creativity and connection. Discover multicultural live concerts, from traditional Moroccan and Iranian concerts to eclectic DJ sets, while children create their own adventures through playful activities such as a face-painting workshop, a drag bingo and the Bonkers Kidsrave Bunker: a club built entirely for kids, no adults allowed! Those seeking a quieter rhythm can settle into Matinée, a soft listening space filled with carpets and carefully curated sounds. The day closes with a communal dinner: a moment of reflection, conversation and togetherness.

Gula Gula is a 100% volunteer run, DIY festival that emerged from the need to create a new accessible festival, financially, socially & culturally, from the underbelly of Brussels, Vilvoorde & its surroundings.

This hidden gem on the green outskirts of Brussels, in the shadow of the Vilvoorde viaduct, has hosted numerous events in the past and, for example, carries with it the legacy of the legendary Mekitburn Festival. We believe that now is the perfect time to breathe new life into this place, to create a space that balances tranquillity and play, amusement and reflection.
