Manifest

Gula Gula is a brand new holistic festival, formed as an experiment to rethink the standard festival framework. A melting pot for music, dance, performance & art encircled by community & driven by voluntary energy.

We’re building a soft, warm nest where light, scenography, music & sound art collide to create a multi-sensory experience.

On Saturday afternoon our festival opens with a communal lunch. Later we are guided & united through performance, dance & music, reaching a climax deep in the night.

Our first indoor stage provides an intimate stage for live music & evolves into a dancefloor experience connecting artist & dancer in the now.

The second indoor stage centers around Soundsystem culture, driven by bass, breaks & rooted in dub experiments. Flowing together through sounds & sonics.

Our courtyard will be the beating heart of our festival & a refuge for our community. A place where experimentation & curiosity are encouraged. Open minds colliding.

On Sunday we coast through the day accompanied by workshops, talks, ambient dj sets & soothing live acts. We’re also making space for our youngest fellows to join in on the fun with kid sized programming & activities. In the evening we reunite again around the dinner table to feed our minds & bellies, reminiscing about shared experiences...

Gula Gula is a 100% volunteer run, DIY festival that emerged from the need to create a new accessible festival, financially , socially & culturally , from the underbelly of Brussels, Vilvoorde & its surroundings.

Hope to meet you there!

Location

A park of encounters, a playground for feelings, a refuge of inspiration, rest, stimulation, and discovery, that’s how we want our home to be experienced. And we are very pleased to call the impressive Ruiterijcomplex in parc Drie Fonteinen in Vilvoorde our home and to welcome you here.

This hidden gem on the green outskirts of Brussels, in the shadow of the Vilvoorde viaduct, has hosted numerous events in the past and, for example, carries with it the legacy of the legendary Mekitburn Festival. We believe that now is the perfect time to breathe new life into this place, to create a space that balances tranquillity and play, amusement and reflection.

Market

On Sunday 14 September, Gula Gula Festival opens the courtyard of the Ruiterij for a vibrant market full of jewelry, design, prints, textiles and unique handmade creations. A space to browse, discover and get your hands on treasures from local makers.
