Abel Ghekiere

Abel Ghekiere is a Belgian multi instrumentalist with a sound that comes from merging minimalist jazz, traditional folk and field recordings. His debut album – Voor het verdwijnt, en daarna - was lauded as a new sound, heavy but comforting. In his new music, he plays with more openness, gentleness and euphoria. The inspiration for his intuitive, stripped-down form of songwriting comes from the likes of Nils Økland, Sufjan Stevens and Caroline. Abel is a guitarist by training but takes clarinet and banjo with him in the studio and on stage.
